Is it something you naturally do well?
If so, this season of Covid and racial reconstruction could be effecting you especially hard.
You are uniquely gifted to feel other’s emotions. You can see when someone is struggling, even when they conceal it. This gift has served you well and has allowed you to love others deeply.
But as the emotional temperature has reached a boiling point for many, you may be feeling soul-weary, stretched too thin, and fragile. You may be experiencing empathy fatigue.
If this is true, it is important that you stop and tend to your soul.
You are needed more than ever, but you must pace yourself.
It is important to give yourself breaks. You will never stop caring and healing others with love. But be aware that you may have a greater need to refresh yourself than others.
Take time to cry, to truly grieve.
Take time to hold a child.
Take time to feel the beauty of nature, to look at a leaf, or up at the stars.
Take time to feel your own soul,
and bring it to Jesus.
Paul said, “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.” (2 Cor 1:4)
He wants to comfort your soul today.
Don’t feel guilty as He fills you up with love and strength and peace.
This is how it is meant to be.
He is your fountain… and He is waiting for you!
